This week The Grow Group was fortunate to have Doug Black, chairman and CEO of SiteOne Landscape Supply, join us for a webinar on leading to win during what is a very challenging time for many of us.

We had several hundred landscape pros join us for the webinar, and for good reason: Doug is one of the sharpest minds in our industry. He has a remarkable ability to zero in on what’s important to succeed in business, in a way that’s succinct and clear—whether you’re a large corporation like SiteOne or a small business like Grunder Landscaping.

You can watch a recording of the webinar on our website if you missed it, or if you want to review what you learned or share it with your team.

Here’s what’s really stuck with me: Doug said companies need to think about their overall goals right now as we contend with the coronavirus. He said you want to make sure you emerge from this situation with three things in tact:

To review, take time now to focus on:

  • Your company. You have to respond to the immediate, but you also have to think long term. What do you need to do now to ensure your company survives financially? What do you need to do to enable it to thrive in the future?

  • Your core values. Now is when the rubber hits the road. Be who you’ve promised people you are. Your team, your customers, your suppliers, and your community will remember what you did during this time, long after it has passed.

  • Your team. Ensure their safety. Be transparent about what you’re doing. Listen. Communicate. Your company is only ever as good as your team.

You can watch all the webinars in our series on responding to the coronavirus, and view related questions and answers, here.

Stay positive and have a good week!
