Every year this Great Idea ends up following a similar theme: this is the time of year to celebrate with the people we love, reflect back on the year behind us, and spend a little time unwinding before the calendar turns over.

All four of my kids are grown and scattered around the country now, and with them rarely all under one roof anymore I put even more value on the time we get to spend together. By the time you're all reading this: three of the four will be home for us to celebrate Christmas this week.

I'll spend the weekend and first half of this week with my family, and then I'll spend the second half of the week working and enjoying how quiet this week always is. It's a great week to slow down and work on tasks that require quiet and no interruptions. On my to-do list:

  • Reviewing my to-do list and calendar from 2024. What things do I still need to take care of? What calendar items do I need to make sure carry over to 2025?
  • Detail out the top 3 things I need to do each week to contribute to our GLC sales goal
  • Pulling together notes for my keynote at GROW! 2025
  • Getting my invitation list together for golf at NCR
  • Developing a plan to look at our financial metrics more often than I do now.
  • Hitting at least 10,000 steps a day. I want to keep weight off during the holidays!
  • Creating an agenda for my first meeting with my new business coach. Coaches need a coach themselves, too!
Look at your to-do list: what tasks can you get done this week that will help you stay focused in the year ahead? How can you also make time to relax this week? Those are the questions to ask today.

Whichever holiday you celebrate, I hope you have a happy one. I'll talk to you next Sunday!
