I think every landscaper in America has probably encountered clients who are wary and distrustful of us from the get-go. There's something Marty often says when doing sales training, that people are "always looking for proof that you aren't who you say you are."
We have to consistently prove who we are and earning their trust, and it only takes one slip up to start sowing doubt in a prospect's mind. In my role as Marketing Manager at Grunder Landscaping Co., I oversee a lot of communications that go out both to prospects and to clients. These communications are the support system to both our production and sales teams, specifically the automated messages we have put in place for clients, and they help reinforce who we are without requiring a lot of effort from the team to get those messages out the door.
I'll go through more of what we're automating, and how we do it using Aspire, during a breakout session at GROW! 2025, but looking at automating your communications where it's possible makes for a great winter project between snow storms. Here's a (non-comprehensive) list of what messages we have automated:
There's something important I want you to notice about this list: it tackles the low hanging fruit. We set up the automations that were easiest to do first, and we'll be adding more and making this more sophisticated as technology improves or our team has time to set more up. It's a starting point, and a way for us to take some small tasks off our sales and production teams so they can focus on what they do best: selling and doing landscaping work.
Tickets are selling quickly for GROW! 2025 and just might sell out, plus our discounted hotel block expires on February 3. Are you registered to join my team and I there? We have a fantastic event planned, check out our agenda to see the full offering of breakout sessions.
