At Grunder Landscaping Co., we recently added a new truck to our fleet. It’s a Kenworth, the second one we’ve purchased as we gradually retire some of our older vehicles. In this week’s Great Idea, I wanted to take a couple minutes to show you how we’re customizing this vehicle to maximize our efficiency and equip our team for success:

*I misspoke in the video. The truck is a 2021 Kenworth, not a 2001.

We outfit our trucks at GLC with:

  • Clear and consistent branding. Your trucks can be some of your most effective advertising.

  • Custom-designed toolboxes. We color-code our tools according to the truck they go on so we can track our inventory; the cost of lost or damaged equipment can really add up if you’re not careful.

  • Sideboxes for additional storage

  • Tarps to cover debris

  • Sideboards to protect our materials

Again, our goal is to get our crews out the door in the morning and on the job site as fast and as safely as we can, and to ensure they have everything they need with them to do the work we’ve tasked them to do. Organizing our trucks and shop drives our indirect costs down and our profits up, and that’s a recipe for success.

And because I know many of you will ask, we work with JW Devers to customize our GLC trucks, based on our own designs that we’ve refined over the years. We’re fortunate to have Devers headquartered here in Dayton, but they also work with companies around the country to build custom solutions.

Have a great week and, as always, if we can help you at The Grow Group, drop us a line at grow@growgroupinc.com.
