We've had a big year at Grunder Landscaping Co. We're on track to surpass our revenue goal and recently closed on the purchase of our second location. These two big wins didn't happen overnight, though, there were lots of smaller steps along the way.

Who gets credit for the success? The team. We needed team members to be excited for the opportunities this growth would bring, but we also needed them to understand it may mean some short-term discomfort. We're still figuring a lot out and making plenty of mistakes, but some things that have helped our leadership team tremendously have been:

Transparency
We shared our plans with the entire team, and we didn't sugar coat it. We set goals and communicated them to the team, but we also shared it when things didn't go according to plan. When the initial plans for a second branch location fell through and set back our opening date significantly, we told the team what happened and the revised plan to move forward.

What's in it for Me?
We're passionate about promoting from within, and all our leaders are working to develop other leaders who can grow into new positions when the time comes. Making it clear what opportunities are available improved buy-in and excitement in our team with these growth plans: they knew that working longer hours or driving further for jobs was a temporary challenge that would bring greater rewards.

Empowering Others
Our leadership team understands that we can't be everywhere at once, and we have to be able to get work done through other people to continue to grow. We work hard to set expectations, coach new leaders, and provide training that allows our team to make the right decisions as often as possible.

We have opportunities for you to learn about all that we're doing at Grunder Landscaping Co. in the coming months. While our next one is sold out, we do have two Grunder Landscaping Co. Field Trips left for 2024. Join us October 29-30 or December 4-5 to visit our Miamisburg location and learn from our team.

I'll talk to you here next week!
