Ready or not, the holidays are here this week. If you’re like me, you look forward to spending time with your friends and family, but you find it difficult to leave work behind. You feel the need to always be reachable by your team and clients, and you find yourself compulsively checking your phone to make sure you aren’t missing any e-mails or texts that come in.

But when you do that, you never really get a break from work and, consequently, you never really recharge. Worse still, with your eyes always glued to your phone or laptop screen, you miss out on irreplaceable moments with your loved ones. It’s taken me a very long time to learn this, but I’m so glad I finally have.

So this week challenge yourself to log off entirely, even if it’s just for a day. Let work wait. I promise you your business won’t collapse if you do. I promise you too that when you do log back in, you’ll be better equipped to get your job done.
