Take the Pulse on Your Company Culture — The Grow Group

Last week we talked about how important it is to work to keep morale up at your company, especially now, and shared how owners and managers can lead with understanding and compassion. There are external factors that are making this year more stressful for teams, but this week we want to discuss how companies can take the pulse of what might be causing friction for team members within the company.

Every year, Grunder Landscaping Co. conducts an anonymous internal survey to gauge morale at the company and diagnose any pain points. They recently finished this year’s survey process, and Marty and Vince wanted to share what they learned:

Surveys are a tool for maintaining and constantly improving your company culture. If you want to conduct your own internal survey, here are some tips:

  1. Conduct the survey anonymously. Be careful not to ask any questions that might identify the respondent, and do your survey digitally if you can.

  2. Commit to listening openly to the feedback you receive. You don’t have to make every change suggested, but you do need to show your team that you hear their concerns and value their suggestions.

  3. Share the steps your team will take to make improvements that the leadership believes are needed to address the feedback received.

Our free Team Member Survey tool has more guidelines on conducting surveys at your company and includes list of questions that GLC uses each year. Download it to get your own survey up and running this week, and make sure you’re signed up to receive our weekly Great Idea for more free tools and tips like this one.

Have a great week and, as always, if we can help you at The Grow Group, drop us a line at grow@growgroupinc.com.
