Recent Graduates Know: Hard Goals Require Hard Work
Grow Group Vice President Vince Torchia graduated from Syracuse University College of Law on May 5, and our team couldn't be prouder. Some of you may know this, but he's been attending law school while still working full-time in his role at The Grow Group. Taking late flights after class ended to make it to peer group meetings, working late and on weekends to prepare for our events, and carefully balancing his schedule to fit everything in.
Emily and I surprised him and flew to Syracuse for his graduation, and Vince took a moment with me after the ceremony to share what he learned through this process. Click below to watch the video:
Truthfully, I don't know how he did this. The tenacity and dedication required to accomplish all that he has is uncommon to say the least. While I know we probably don't have many readers contemplating going to law school themselves, I do think there are some things we can all learn from Vince's experience:
- Whatever you put your mind to, you can achieve. Vince's path to law school graduation wasn't traditional, but he was committed to finishing the degree. He had a clear vision for his future, which drove his decision-making along the way. A clear vision is always the first step to success.
- You have to put in the reps. To do all of this, Vince did a lot of hard work and made a lot of sacrifices. He spent weekdays fitting in meetings for us in between his class schedule, booked late-night flights to make it to peer group meetings without missing class, and worked many weekends to catch up on homework and prepare for our events. Hard work is often required to reach the goals we set for ourselves.
Now to answer the most-asked question: what comes next? Vince will prepare to take the bar this summer, and he'll continue being a valued member of The Grow Group and Grunder Landscaping Co. teams when he passes and is able to practice law. You'll be hearing more from him on our weekly podcast, The Grow Show (he's featured in our next episode, released on Wednesday), and you'll still see him at our events and peer group meetings.
Have a great week; I'll talk to you next Sunday!
